Listed below are the main activities performed by TIFPA;
- Create a forum for the Tanzania Industrial Fishing and Processors Association.
- It is a collective force for bargaining, negotiating, initiating, observing and advising on major issues touching on the member's collective and individual interests.
- To act for members in negotiations with the Government, trade unions, federations, the public and non-governmental entities for the best interest of the members.
- Where opportunity allows, TIFPA educates seamen and crew on the safety of operations and survival at sea and lake waters in order to create better working conditions.
- Harmonize and open up communication channels between employees and members being employers, for better working relationship.
- Form linkage between policy makers and industrial fishers and processors for the purpose of implementing responsible fisheries.
- Exercising due diligence in fish safety and quality assurance systems.
- Ensure the right of consumers to safe, whole some and unadulterated fish and fishery products.
- Preventing commercial fraud.
- Promoting the role of Industrial Fishing and Fish Processing in the general economy of the nation.
- Advocate for and obtain better terms and conditions in transactions affecting the economic and social well - being of the members.
- Encourage research and conservation of the endangered marine and freshwater fish species.
- Sourcing for and manage funds, grants and aid related to the fulfilment/execution of the objectives of TIFPA.
- Engaging in further association with other related Associations and Trade Unions within the industry.
